How to Improve Website Speed
A practical pass on website speed for Kerala businesses — images, fonts, third parties, and why hill broadband is a design constraint.

Speed is not a score you screenshot for a pitch. It is whether a guest on a phone in Idukki, a parent in Malappuram, or a buyer in another state waits or leaves. Improving website speed is mostly editing: less weight, fewer surprises, fewer vendors in the <head>.
You do not need a new brand to do this. You need someone who will treat images and scripts as editorial decisions.
Photograph like it has to load
Hero videos, uncompressed gallery dumps, five carousels. Hospitality sites in the hills are the worst offenders. Compress, size, modern formats, lazy-load what is below the fold. Alt text is for humans and for search — describe the room, not ‘image123’.
A cinematic still that weighs 80KB will beat a cloudy 8MB loop on a bad network. Every time.
Fonts and third parties
Self-host the type you actually use. Do not call five Google Fonts families on a page that uses two weights. If Google Fonts is unreachable, the site should not look broken — we learned that the hard way in production builds.
Chat widgets, four tag managers, heatmaps, an embedded map that is really an advertisement. Each one is a round trip. Keep the ones you can name a job for.
The chassis
Hosting, caching, a modern framework or a well-kept WordPress, images through a CDN when it earns its keep. Technical SEO and speed meet here: the crawler and the guest are both waiting.
If the builder exports 3MB of JavaScript for a five-page brochure, change the builder. Do not ‘optimise’ around it forever.
Measure on the network you have
Lab scores on office Wi-Fi lie. Look at the phone in the property, the 4G on the bypass, Search Console’s real users if you have them.
Then change one thing at a time. Superstition loves changing everything.
